10.00 - 17.00 Theme: Cranes in agricultural environments. Presentations and discussions about damages made on crops, feeding ecology, habitat selection, creation of refuges and future strategies to avoid damages (12.00-13.30 lunch). Other participants will arrive during the day.
20.00 Dinner.
- Friday 11th
09.00 -10.00 Official opening of the Conference.
10.00 -13.00 Information and plenary presentations.
13.00 -14.30 Lunch.
14.30 -19.00 Presentations from the National groups; national activities, current status of the Crane, estimation of populations, future plans (20 minutes per group, 5 min for questions).
20.00 Official dinner. Programme.
- Saturday 12th
09.00-12.30 Workshop sessions.
Workshops:
- Estimation of population sizes, surveying methods.
- Colour-ringing and radio tracking.
- Information and reporting by Internet and e-mail.
- Cranes in agricultural environments, damages, food and refuges.
- Organisation and activities of the European Crane Working Group. ECWG Newsletter. ECWG Internet home page.
12.30-14.00 Lunch.
14.00 Visit to Hornborgasjön (Lake Hornborga) and the Crane staging area (Trandansen).
20.30 Dinner and Evening programme.
- Sunday 13th
09.00 -12.30 Presentation of results from the Workshop sessions. Decisions on future strategies for conservation of the Common Crane in Europe. Official closing of the Conference.
12.30 -13.30 Lunch.
14.00 -19.00 Excursion in Skaraborg, "the countryside between two of the largest lakes in Europe".
20.00 Dinner.
- Monday 14th
Travel home.
B. Time schedule / Agenda for preparation
Year 2002
March
The First Announcement will be distributed with information and Registration form (these papers).
15 April
Preliminary Registration should be submitted to the Conference office not later than 15 April 2002.
(preliminary booking at Flämslätt must be made before 20 April 2002).
1 October
The Final Announcement with information and Final Registration form will be distributed only to those who have submitted their Preliminary Registration form.
Year 2003
1 February
The Final Registration must be submitted to the Conference office before 1 February 2003 for final booking at Flämslätt. Abstracts of all presentations should be submitted. Full-length papers of the presentations on the 10th "Cranes in agricultural environment" should be submitted for reviewing.
C. Costs
All costs are quoted in Euro, at the present exchange rate (March 2002) to the Swedish Crown (SEK). Final costs will be specified according to the exchange rate on 1 April 2003.
Depending on the time of participation, one basic and two supplementary packages of accommodation are available.
- Basic package: from morning coffee on Thursday 10th to lunch on Sunday 13th (lunch included).
- Supplementary board from dinner on Wednesday 9th to breakfast on Thursday 10th (breakfast included).
- Supplementary board from Sunday 13th to breakfast on Monday 14th (breakfast included).
Alternative participations
A. Participators in all activities from Thursday morning (10th) "Cranes in agricultural environments", including the Excursion on Sunday (13th), choose packages 1, 2 and 3. You will then arrive on Wednesday afternoon/evening (9th) and leave on Monday morning (14th).
B. Participators from Thursday morning (10th) "Cranes in agricultural environments", not including the Excursion on Sunday (13th), choose packages 1 and 2. You will then arrive on Wednesday afternoon/evening (9th) and leave on Sunday afternoon (13th)

C. Participators in the activities from Friday morning (11th), including the Excursion on Sunday (13th), choose packages 1 and 3. You will then arrive on Thursday afternoon/evening (10th) and leave on Monday morning (14th).
D. Participators in the activities from Friday morning (11th), not including the Excursion on Sunday (13th) choose package 1. You will then arrive on Thursday afternoon/evening (10th) and leave on Sunday afternoon (13th).
Note, supplementary bookings and payments for specific events (meals) can be made.
Example: supplementary dinner in alternative B on Wednesday (9th).
Standards of accommodation:
S. Single room with toilet and shower.
D. Double room with toilet and shower.
Y. Youth Hostel standard, up to 4 persons per room, shared toilet and shower.
Costs in Euro for full board based on the exchange rate 2002-03-02.

Thanks to our sponsors, it will be possible for the Swedish Crane Working Group to invite all participants to:
- the official dinner.
- the bus Excursion to Hornborgasjön (Lake Hornborga), which includes a light meal.
- the Excursion to the area between Vänern and Vättern.
- Bus/car transports to/from Flämslätt from/to Göteborg Airport (Landvetter) and from/to the railway station in Skövde.
We also hope that it will be possible to reduce the costs of participation by at least 30 Euros (priority will be given to people who work voluntarily for the conservation of the Common Crane).
Also, some free flight seats will be available by courtesy of LUFTHANSA. If you are interested in getting one of these seats, please apply for one already now on the Preliminary Registration form and do not forget to give a motivation to why you need a free seat. Also here, priority is given to voluntary Crane workers.
On the Final Registration form, which will be sent out in October 2002, you must make your final booking on the basis of the information provided above!
